The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Essikadu-Ketan Constituency, Charles Bissue, has reaffirmed his commitment to rehabilitate the deplorable Eshiem Road. This promise is set to become a reality soon, thanks to the government’s District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) and commitments from companies along the road.
The Eshiem Road has been a source of concern for residents, with over six separate demonstrations in the last three years. Despite numerous promises, the road remains in a dreadful state, prompting Charles Bissue to take action.
In June, Charles Bissue assured residents of his commitment to lead and work with the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) and companies along the road to rehabilitate it. He has since been engaging with these stakeholders, securing amazing commitments from companies to support the rehabilitation efforts.
Charles Bissue believes that the government cannot do it alone and that good corporate citizens have a role to play in ensuring the road is rehabilitated. He has been working tirelessly with the Roads and Highways Ministry and STMA to secure funds for the project.
The Eshiem Road is economically significant, with a high concentration of large-scale industries. Charles Bissue’s zeal to see the road fully rehabilitated has been boosted by the rollout of DRIP, which aims to give a significant facelift to roads across the country.
Under DRIP, STMA has received 18 machines, including tipper trucks, backhoes, and graders, to tackle roads in the area. The Essikadu-Ketan Sub-Metro is expected to receive six of these machines, with the Eshiem Road being a high priority.
A source at STMA confirmed that the Eshiem Road is a priority, thanks to Charles Bissue’s consistent lobbying. He has been visiting the assembly every week since June, emphasizing the need for the road’s rehabilitation.
Charles Bissue has spent the last four days visiting companies along the road to firm up plans for their support. He aims to commence work on the road in September and has assured residents that the project will be completed despite some discomfort during the construction period.
The rehabilitation of the Eshiem Road will bring relief to residents and companies in the area. Charles Bissue’s commitment to the project is a testament to his dedication to the constituents of Essikadu-Ketan.
With the support of companies and government agencies, the Eshiem Road is set to receive a major facelift before the elections. Charles Bissue’s promise is becoming a reality, and residents can look forward to a better road network soon.
