The Ministry of Information has launched the third edition of its Media Capacity Enhancement Programme (MCEP), a comprehensive training initiative designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of journalists across the country. The programme, which commenced in November 2021, aims to equip media professionals with the necessary tools and expertise to effectively discharge their duties in today’s fast-paced media landscape.
The Minister of Information, Fatima Abubakar, officially launched the third cohort of the training programme, marking the opening of the registration portal for interested journalists. According to the Minister, the training will commence on September 10th and will cover a range of topics essential for modern journalism.
Mrs. Abubakar emphasized the importance of the training, noting that it will help journalists to improve their reporting skills, ethical standards, and overall professionalism. The Chairperson of the Media Capacity Enhancement Programme, Gloria Hiadzi, commended participants of the second cohort for their exemplary commitment to the training.
She outlined the course curriculum for the third cohort, which includes modules on investigative journalism, digital media, and media ethics. The training programme is part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote a vibrant and independent media landscape in the country.
