Upper East Region to Employ 400+ DRIP Operators

The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, has made a significant announcement regarding the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) in the region. During a reception and inspection of DRIP equipment in Bolgatanga, Dr. Salih revealed that the programme will provide over 400 job opportunities, primarily for the youth.

The Regional Minister commended the government for addressing the needs of the people, particularly in road infrastructure. He acknowledged that the roads in the Upper East Region are in a deplorable state and expressed hope that the equipment would bring relief to the assemblies.

Dr. Salih emphasized the importance of improving the road network to open up communities and towns to farmers. He stated that the equipment would be a valuable resource for the assemblies in their quest to enhance the region’s road infrastructure.

The Regional Minister expressed confidence that the operation of the equipment would create employment opportunities for the youth. He noted that each assembly is expected to employ 30 operators, resulting in 450 employment vacancies across the 15 Municipal and District Assemblies.

The Upper East Region has received 117 pieces of equipment under the DRIP initiative, including tipper trucks, motor graders, rollers, backhoes, graders, and wheel loaders. These equipment are aimed at improving road construction and infrastructure in the region.

Dr. Salih urged the assemblies to put the equipment to good use, emphasizing the need to improve the region’s roads. He acknowledged that the roads are one of the major challenges facing the region.
