The People’s National Convention (PNC) has concluded the nomination and filing period, paving the way for the upcoming candidate vetting process.
The opposition party has scheduled Thursday and Friday for the vetting of 17 candidates who have applied to run for various positions in Saturday’s Congress.
A statement from the Congress Committee reveals that the candidates will be divided into two groups for the vetting process. The first group will be assessed from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the second group will undergo vetting at the same time on Friday.
Among the candidates who have successfully filed for the elections are Bernard Anbataayela Mornah and David Apasera, both vying for the party’s top position as flagbearer.
For the Chairmanship position, Hajia Hajara Ali and Asaki Awingobit have submitted their nominations and will face the vetting committee.Awudu Ishak and Yakubu Fahrudeen are competing for the role of General Secretary, aiming to manage the party’s administrative affairs.
Abass Nuhu and Daniel Nii Noi Osekine are contending for the National Organiser position, with plans to enhance the party’s grassroots mobilization.Christiana Fugah and Esther Osei will compete for the Women’s Organiser role, each seeking to advance the interests and involvement of women within the party.
Mark Ewusi Arko and Alidu Mohammed Nasirdeen are competing for the Youth Organiser position, each aiming to engage and mobilize the party’s younger supporters. Emmanuel Akazabre is running for Treasurer, with a focus on managing the party’s finances.
Several candidates are also contending for deputy roles. Martin Anafo and Eugene Tamado Koffikan Bashiru are in the running for Vice Chairman. Prince K. Agyeman-Duah is vying for the position of Assistant Secretary, while Saeed Abdallah is seeking the role of Assistant Organiser. Narrita Mary Logah is contesting for Deputy Women’s Organiser, aiming to support and enhance the party’s women’s activities.
“We look forward to a transparent, democratic, and successful vetting process, which will pave the way for our national congress and ultimately determine the fate of our party’s leadership,” the Congress Committee stressed.
