The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has emphasized the importance of addressing concerns raised by political parties before signing a peace pact. This comes after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced its decision to withhold commitment to any peace pact until certain conditions are met.
MFWA Executive Director Sulemana Braimah spoke at a public forum in Accra, highlighting the need for peace in effective governance. Braimah stressed that peace is essential for a country to be governed effectively, but it should not come at the expense of addressing legitimate concerns.
He acknowledged the NDC’s decision to raise several issues that need to be addressed before committing to a peace pact. Braimah emphasized that stakeholders should look into the concerns raised by the NDC and not overlook them for the sake of peace.
He noted that signing a peace pact without addressing the underlying issues may not lead to lasting peace. Braimah encouraged stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue to address the concerns raised by the NDC.
