Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Manifesto Committee, has asserted that the Akufo-Addo administration has successfully fulfilled 70% of its promises made in the 2020 manifesto.
The former Information Minister noted significant economic improvements, including a more stable cedi and decreased inflation, as markers of progress.
In an interview, Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that the economy has experienced substantial growth due to the government’s policy measures designed to address initial difficulties.
He refuted claims that the NPP has not delivered on its promises, urging the public to review the data independently. He also pointed out that the NPP’s Manifesto Committee has prepared new policies to address ongoing national issues, which will be implemented if the party is re-elected.
“Our assessment is that we have met 70% of our 2020 commitments. While we haven’t reached 100%, our data supports this figure. We welcome independent evaluations and discussions on this,” he explained.
Oppong Nkrumah highlighted improvements in key economic indicators, noting that despite challenges like inflation and currency depreciation, there has been growth and stabilization following targeted policies. He acknowledged the government’s responsibility for rising living costs and outlined planned interventions for the future.
As the 2024 elections approach, the Minister for Works and Housing urged voters to critically evaluate the records of the leading presidential candidates, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP and John Dramani Mahama of the NDC, before casting their votes.
