Renowned UK-based gospel musician Esther Smith has announced her return to the music scene after a brief hiatus to focus on her family. In an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Smith revealed that she is back “for good” and plans to actively pursue her music career once again.
Smith, known for her inspirational songs, is currently working on a new project with celebrated music producer Kwame Yeboah. She plans to release new music consistently, with a new song scheduled for release every six months.
“My music continues to be inspired by my faith,” Smith emphasized. “Each song undergoes a period of fasting and prayer before it is recorded to ensure that it carries the power to transform lives.”
Smith is currently in Ghana to headline two gospel concerts, featuring notable gospel artists such as Joe Beecham, Lady Prempeh, and Joyce Blessing. The concerts will take place on August 25 and 30, 2024, in Kumasi and Accra, respectively.
Reflecting on her music’s impact, Smith shared a touching story about how her song “Ma Wonsan” saved a marriage. “One gentleman told me that my song brought him and his wife back together after they were nearly divorcing,” she recounted.
With eight albums and several singles to her name, Smith’s legacy in the gospel music industry is significant. Her return is anticipated to inspire many and reaffirm her place as one of Ghana’s most impactful gospel musicians.
