The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has given a strong assurance of the police service’s readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the December polls. Speaking at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters in Accra on Monday, Dr. Dampare emphasized the police service’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure electoral process.
He revealed that police personnel will be deployed to all polling centers where the exhibition exercise will take place, demonstrating the service’s proactive approach to maintaining security. Dr. Dampare stressed the importance of collaboration between the police, EC, and other stakeholders to ensure a successful electoral process.
He assured the public that the police service will work diligently to ensure that Ghana emerges triumphant at the end of the day. The IGP emphasized the need for all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the EC to resolve any challenges that may arise during the electoral process.
He urged stakeholders to conduct themselves within the law and allow the police to do their work within the same legal framework. Dr. Dampare’s assurance comes as the country prepares for the December polls, which are expected to be highly contested.
The police service’s readiness to maintain law and order is crucial to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process and preventing any potential violence or disruptions. By working together, the police, EC, and other stakeholders can ensure a peaceful and successful electoral process that reflects the will of the Ghanaian people.
