“My Ex Left Because I Was Broke” – Dr Likee
- Dr. Likee's relationship ended due to financial struggles
- Ex-girlfriend complained about his empty-handed returns from movie sets
- Success often follows after breakup, Dr. Likee observes
Renowned Ghanaian content creator and skit maker, Dr. Likee, born Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, has shared a poignant personal experience from his early days in the entertainment industry. In a candid interview with ZionFelix, Dr. Likee revealed that his past relationship ended due to financial instability.
Recalling his struggles as an up-and-coming actor, Dr. Likee recounted how his ex-girlfriend would often express frustration over his inability to provide for her after returning from movie sets empty-handed. “In those days, things were not easy. Sometimes, you would tell your woman that you were going on set to shoot a movie, but you would come back with nothing in hand, and she would start complaining that you couldn’t help her,” he shared.
Dr. Likee highlighted the unique pressures faced by financially struggling men in relationships, drawing parallels with the late South African reggae legend Lucky Dube, who faced similar challenges. He noted that men who are left due to financial difficulties often go on to achieve success after the breakup. “A beautiful woman will surely meet a man who will show her ‘love’ with money when she steps out. Once that happens, she will leave you because you have nothing to offer her. But the moment the lady leaves is the very moment things begin to work out for you,” he said.
Dr. Likee further illustrated his point by referencing Lucky Dube’s experience. “This happened to Lucky Dube… After the woman left, things began to get better for him. Then the child would ask why she didn’t stay with the father.” He also emphasized the importance of spiritual guidance in overcoming the unique challenges faced by stars in their relationships.
