Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his expectation that their political rivals will likely adopt elements of their newly released manifesto.
He suggested that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) delayed their own manifesto launch to observe and replicate the NPP’s proposals.
During the NPP’s manifesto launch at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi on Sunday, August 18, 2024, Frimpong emphasized that the party is a trailblazer in the political arena, and their recent manifesto unveiling is a testament to that leadership.
“We are leading the way once again with the launch of our manifesto for the 2024 elections. I anticipate that others might follow suit by copying our manifesto, as they often wait for us to set the standard,” he remarked.
Frimpong also highlighted the capabilities of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserting that he would be an exemplary leader if elected President in 2025. He contrasted Bawumia’s anticipated accountability with that of former President John Dramani Mahama, expressing confidence in Bawumia’s potential to deliver on his promises and be held accountable by the electorate.
“I have full faith in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership. Ghanaians will have the opportunity to assess his administration after four years and decide whether to extend his mandate. Dr. Bawumia’s track record and vision make him a strong candidate for President,” said Frimpong, who previously led the Youth Employment Agency.
