Catholic Priest Apologizes for Singing King Paluta’s ‘Aseda’ in Church

Rev. Father Peter Kusi Twumasi, the Acting Rector of St. Stephen Rectorate in Bodomase, Ashanti Region, has issued a full apology following an incident where he led his congregation in singing King Paluta’s secular song, Aseda.

A video circulating on social media shows the priest and many members of his congregation joyfully singing the song, which has garnered a variety of responses from viewers.

In his apology, Rev. Father Twumasi admitted that he became caught up in the moment and allowed a secular song to be performed in a setting traditionally reserved for sacred music.

“I was carried away and let my guard down, which led to a secular song entering our sacred space,” he said. “I had no intentions to disrespect the traditions of the Catholic Church.”
