Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, captured widespread attention on Wednesday with a striking Instagram post featuring a statue of his wife, Priscilla Chan. The large silver and blue sculpture, depicting Chan, stands approximately 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and was created by New York-based artist Daniel Arsham.
Zuckerberg described the statue as a tribute to “the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife.” The artwork was installed in what appears to be a residential garden, positioned under a tree.
The unique design of the statue, combined with its imposing size, has sparked a flurry of online reactions. Many social media users have compared the sculpture to characters from the film “Avatar” and made humorous references to Zuckerberg’s public persona as a “wife guy.”
In the Instagram post, Chan is seen enjoying a mug that matches the statue’s light blue color. She responded to the post with a playful comment: “The more of me the better?” accompanied by a heart emoji.
The statue features a sculpted silver garment that appears to flow behind the teal-colored figure. This nods to the historical practice of sculpting figures in ancient Rome to honor loved ones or highlight significant relationships, as noted by the National Museums Liverpool.
Zuckerberg and Chan have been married since 2012 and are parents to three daughters.
