John Mahama, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his gratitude to the Volta Region for their consistent support. Mahama acknowledged that the region has given the NDC the highest percentage of total votes in general elections since the inception of the 4th Republic.

He emphasized that the NDC does not take the region’s support for granted, stating, “We want to thank the Volta Region for standing behind the NDC over the years.” Mahama explained that the region’s support is not just about the number of votes but also the percentage of votes, which is significantly higher than other regions.

He noted that the NDC has ensured the region receives a fair share of development projects, investing in life-changing initiatives such as education, health, transport, road, sanitation, water, and agriculture. Mahama highlighted the transformation these projects have brought to the lives of the people in the region, stating, “You can’t quantify the level of transformation it has had on the lives of the people.”

He criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for not continuing projects initiated by the NDC, leaving the region’s people to suffer. Mahama warned against vote buying and entreated the electorates not to forget the 8-year hardship they had endured under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.

He promised that the NDC would continue with its infrastructure development agenda for the Volta Region, investing in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and industry to create jobs. Mahama also promised to deploy a homegrown fiscal consolidation program to help revive the country’s economy and build modern markets to support trade and income generation.
