IGP Dampare Expresses Concern Over Succession and Legacy
- IGP Dampare is deeply concerned about the possibility of an incompetent successor taking over his position
- He fears that the progress and achievements made under his leadership could be undone by an unqualified replacement
- Dampare emphasizes the need for a successor who can build upon the existing foundation
Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, has shared his profound anxiety regarding the future leadership of his position.
Dampare’s chief concern is the competence of his eventual successor. He fears that if his successor does not surpass his own abilities, they may undermine the accomplishments and positive impact achieved by his team.
During a recent event hosted by the Methodist Church, Dampare stated, “My greatest worry in my professional life is leaving my current role without a successor who is better than me. I constantly pray for guidance, hoping that if we, as a team, are not replaced by someone who can enhance our achievements, then perhaps our efforts are in vain because a less capable individual could dismantle what we have built.”
He continued, “Please keep us in your prayers so that our legacy is not merely used as a benchmark for future leaders. Instead, we hope our successors will excel and further the progress we have made for the benefit of all and to the glory of God.”
