Franklin Cudjoe Trusts Mahama More Than Akufo-Addo in Fighting Corruption

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has voiced strong support for John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, in the fight against corruption.

During a town hall meeting at the Bukom Boxing Arena on August 12, Mahama pledged to enforce accountability among public officials if elected president, underscoring his commitment to combating corruption.

In response to criticisms, especially from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Cudjoe told Citi News that he believes Mahama is more reliable in addressing corruption than the current president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Cudjoe compared the two leaders’ records, noting that Akufo-Addo has failed to fulfill some of his promises, including the controversial “haircut” and addressing illegal mining (“galamsey”).

He expressed skepticism about Akufo-Addo’s trustworthiness on these issues, stating, “I can understand the caution, but [President] Akufo-Addo is not John Mahama. We have tested both, and unfortunately, Akufo-Addo has not been dependable on these matters. Therefore, I am inclined to trust John Dramani Mahama more on tackling corruption.”
