Alan Kyerematen Promises Young VP If Elected

Alan Kyerematen, independent presidential candidate and founder of the Movement for Change, unveiled his Great Transformation Plan (GTP) during a media engagement on Tuesday. The GTP prioritizes empowering Ghana’s youth and addressing their economic needs, with a focus on creating job opportunities.

Kyerematen pledged to generate 3 million jobs within 18 months if elected, emphasizing the importance of boosting the private sector. He identified youth jobs as his top priority, highlighting the need for an enterprise-driven economy to provide sustainable employment.

To support young entrepreneurs, Kyerematen proposed seed funding and concessional loans without collateral, aiming to foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. Demonstrating his commitment to involving younger generations in leadership, Kyerematen announced that his vice president would be a young person.

He also pledged that 60% of his appointments would be from individuals aged between 22 and 50, ensuring youth have a prominent role in governance and decision-making. The GTP places a strong emphasis on education and skills development, with Kyerematen supporting continuing free Senior High School (SHS) education.

He proposed a compulsory, certificated one-year internship for graduates, providing practical experience and opening pathways to entrepreneurship. Kyerematen’s Great Transformation Plan outlines a comprehensive approach to youth empowerment, promising job creation, support for entrepreneurship, and significant representation of young people in governance.
