West Ham United have significantly strengthened their defensive options with the acquisition of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.
The 26-year-old right-back has signed a seven-year contract with the Hammers in a deal worth £15 million.
Wan-Bissaka, a product of Crystal Palace’s academy, joined Manchester United in 2019 for a fee of £50 million.
Despite making 190 appearances for the Red Devils, the defender fell out of favor under manager Erik ten Hag.
The London-born full-back expressed his excitement about returning to his hometown club, stating, “It was a no-brainer for me to join West Ham.”
He praised the team’s unity and ambition, emphasizing his eagerness to contribute to the club’s success.
Wan-Bissaka becomes West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer, joining a list of new arrivals including Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, and Niclas Fullkrug.
The transfer is seen as a key step in Manchester United’s pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui, with the deal for the Moroccan full-back contingent on Wan-Bissaka’s departure.
Both West Ham and Manchester United kick off their Premier League campaigns on August 17th and 16th respectively.
