Mahama Promises to Complete ‘Agenda 111 Hospitals’ to Boost Employment for Trainee Nurses

Story Highlights
  • Mahama promised to resume and finalize the construction of hospitals that have been left incomplete
  • He assured that his administration would continue and complete the Agenda 111 initiative
  • He committed to ensuring that job creation for healthcare professionals is a top priority

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has pledged to complete the unfinished hospitals and the Agenda 111 project if elected, aiming to generate job opportunities for trainee nurses.

Addressing trainee nurses on Saturday, Mahama underscored his dedication to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and tackling the difficulties faced by healthcare professionals in Ghana.

He stressed the need to finalize these projects to ensure that healthcare services are both available and accessible across the country.

According to Mahama, completing these hospitals would not only improve healthcare delivery but also offer essential job prospects for trainee nurses and other healthcare workers.

Mahama pointed out that while his previous administration proposed substituting trainee nurses’ allowances with student loans to foster employment, the current government’s promises have fallen short, with many nurses facing unpaid arrears.

He assured the nurses that, under an NDC government, the completion of ongoing and new hospital projects will create additional job opportunities. “Our priority is not just allowances but ensuring employment after graduation. We will address the challenges and ensure that all of you have a place in the healthcare system,” he affirmed.

“This election is a choice between Ghana’s future and the current administration’s record,” Mahama concluded.
