Chelsea have completed their eleventh signing of the summer transfer window, securing the services of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Pedro Neto in a £54m deal.
The 24-year-old Portuguese winger has signed a seven-year contract, tying him to Stamford Bridge until 2031.
Neto was officially unveiled to Chelsea fans during half-time of their friendly against Inter Milan on Sunday.
The Blues had two previous bids rejected by Wolves before finally agreeing to a fee of £51.3m with an additional £2.6m in potential add-ons.
This transfer represents a club-record sale for Wolves, surpassing the £47m received for Ruben Neves last year.
Neto joins a long list of new arrivals at Chelsea, with the club’s summer spending now exceeding £185m. Questions have been raised about the club’s spending spree, with fans and pundits alike questioning the strategy behind such a massive outlay on new players.
Despite the heavy investment, Chelsea are expected to continue their recruitment drive, with Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion and Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders potential targets in the coming days.
