Burna Boy Clarifies Album Release Confusion

Award-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has addressed the recent confusion regarding the release of his highly anticipated eighth studio album. Fans were left puzzled and disappointed after the artist’s initial announcement suggested the album would drop at midnight, leading many to expect its release on July 30.

On July 29, Burna Boy used social media to announce, “Album dropping by 12am,” which sparked widespread anticipation. However, when the album did not release as expected, fans were surprised. In response to the confusion, Burna Boy took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify the situation.

“Ladies and gentlemen, A valuable lesson on paying attention to detail. I said 12am, I never said what date. No be say I whine una o Na una Lose guard,” Burna Boy wrote in a follow-up post on August 11, 2024.

He stressed that his announcement referred only to the time of release and not the specific date, urging fans to be more attentive to details.

Recently, Burna Boy marked the fifth anniversary of his Grammy-nominated 2019 album African Giant. Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy first gained prominence with his debut album L.I.F.E in 2013 and has since released seven more albums, including Twice As Tall (2020) and Love, Damini (2022).

His accolades include winning the Grammy Award for Best World Music Album and being named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People for 2024. Additionally, he recently became the first African artist to achieve two billion streams across platforms in the United Kingdom.
