President Akufo-Addo has officially cut the sod for the dualization of the 22km Adenta-Dodowa road project, marking the beginning of construction work. The project’s scope includes the provision of walkways, street lights, and an adequate drainage system to enhance road safety and user experience.
Speaking at the ceremony in Dodowa, Greater Accra Region, the President highlighted the government’s commitment to resuming work on suspended projects, including the Tema-Aflao Road construction. The Tema-Aflao Road project features four interchanges at Kpone, Savannah, Dawenya, and Ningo Junctions, demonstrating the government’s focus on improving road infrastructure.
President Akufo-Addo urged the contractor to implement effective traffic management measures to minimize disruptions to commuters and pedestrians during the construction period. The Adenta-Dodowa road was initially reconstructed in 1998 by Kassab Civil Engineering Company Limited, but the current dualization project is part of the government’s comprehensive strategy to enhance the country’s main roads.
This initiative includes the dualization of key routes such as the Accra-Kumasi Highway, Accra-Cape Coast Road, Tema-Aflao Road, and Tema-Akosombo Road, aimed at reducing travel times and improving road safety. Since 2017, the government has undertaken numerous significant road projects, demonstrating its commitment to improving Ghana’s road network.
The Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso Boakye, emphasized the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe. The NPP Parliament Candidate for Adentan, Akosua Manu, expressed gratitude to the government for fulfilling its promise to construct the road, highlighting the positive impact on the community.
