The Ghana Police Service has taken action against one of two twins, Atsu Adadevoh, while Etse Adadevoh remains on the run for allegedly defrauding a military woman of GH¢62,165.
According to Superintendent of Police Augustine A. Yirenkyi, the duo deceived the victim, Madam Attitsogbui, by posing as businessmen from Teshie in 2022.
They convinced her to pay GH¢62,165 as rent for a store, promising to provide tenancy documentation.
The victim, unaware of their fraudulent intentions, complied and paid the amount. However, after receiving the payment, the twins vanished without fulfilling their agreement.
The case was reported to the police on July 31, 2024, prompting an investigation. On August 1, Atsu was arrested and admitted to the crime, although he claimed the amount collected was less than GH¢62,165, without specifying the exact figure.
Atsu has been remanded in custody by the Accra Circuit Court Nine and is scheduled to appear again on August 13, 2024. Meanwhile, Judge Samuel Bright Acquah has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Etse Adadevoh, who remains at large and failed to attend court.
