Reggae Artist Luciano Hails Stonebwoy’s Stellar Performance at Reggae Geel Festival

Renowned Jamaican reggae musician Luciano has commended Ghanaian reggae star Stonebwoy for his impressive performance at the 2024 Reggae Geel Festival held in Belgium.

On August 3rd, Stonebwoy, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024 Artiste of the Year, made a notable return to one of Europe’s premier reggae festival stages. This marked his first appearance at the festival since his historic debut in 2016, where he shared the stage with other prominent reggae and Afrobeats artists.

Performing before a crowd of over 50,000 at Geel’s Belse Bossen, Stonebwoy delivered a high-energy set that highlighted his extensive catalog of hits. His hour-long performance included crowd-pleasers such as “Run Go,” “Ekelebe,” “Shuga,” “Everlasting,” “Into The Future,” “Your Body,” “Hero,” and “Activate.” His dynamic presence and engaging showmanship solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the reggae scene from Africa.

Stonebwoy’s appearance was marked by a distinctive custom-designed outfit featuring reflective materials, detachable zippers, and stone embellishments. His performance was further enhanced by four dancers in coordinated attire, contributing to the vibrant choreography. The visual experience was enriched by animations of lions, cowries, and a stone head with a lightning eye projected onto the screens.

Following the performance, Luciano praised Stonebwoy for his dedication to advancing the dancehall genre and expressed interest in a future collaboration. “You are hardworking. I love your work, I want us to work on a collaboration,” Luciano remarked.

Stonebwoy’s international acclaim continues to grow, as demonstrated by his success at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, where he won seven prestigious awards, including Artist of the Year. This year has also seen him release popular singles such as “Ekelebe” and “Your Body” and perform at major festivals including the Summerjam Festival in Germany, Austin Reggae Festival, CaliVibes Festival in the US, and Island Music Festival in Jamaica.

Looking ahead, Stonebwoy is preparing to release his third official single of the year, titled “Pray For Me,” featuring legendary musician Wyclef Jean. The track, accompanied by an inspirational video shot in London, is set to be released on Friday, August 9th.
