Kumawood actress Portia Asare Boateng has opened up about the significant challenges facing the Kumawood movie industry, pointing to internal conflicts and alleged spiritual sabotage as key issues.

In an interview with Ahodwo TV, Asare Boateng attributed the industry’s struggles to a lack of unity and underlying animosity among industry colleagues, which she believes has adversely impacted both film production and quality.

“People are asking why Kumawood is struggling. It’s because of hatred! Some use spiritual means to undermine their colleagues instead of supporting one another,” she said.

Asare Boateng recounted personal experiences where she felt targeted by peers who allegedly used spiritual means to obstruct her progress. “People I trusted and used to dine with were among those who tried to harm me using witchcraft. I was shocked. If you destroy me, you can’t replace me. Each person’s work is unique, so why resort to such measures?” she questioned.

Although she chose not to name specific individuals involved, her comments have sparked concern among Kumawood fans and industry observers, who are already lamenting the sector’s decline.
