The government has launched an accountability exercise to showcase its massive infrastructural developments across the country’s regions while engaging citizens for feedback on governance. The first edition of the Regional Townhall Meetings and Exhibition took place in the Greater Accra Region, under the theme “Regional Revitalization: Government’s Commitment to Growth, Development, and Prosperity.”
The event saw key government officials presenting updates on various projects and engaging directly with the public, demonstrating the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability. Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, emphasized that the townhall meetings are part of the government’s strategy to account to Ghanaians for its achievements over the past seven and a half years.
The goal, she said, is to create a government that listens, responds, and acts in the best interest of its people, building a future where every Ghanaian feels included and empowered to contribute to the nation’s growth. The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Titus Glover, provided a comprehensive update on the developmental projects undertaken by the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia administration, highlighting significant achievements within the region.
Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, presented an in-depth analysis of the government’s economic interventions, showcasing measures to rebound the Ghanaian economy despite global economic challenges. The event featured an exhibition center where all 29 districts within the Greater Accra Region showcased their respective projects and initiatives, providing a platform for local governments to highlight their contributions to regional development.
The meeting brought together a diverse audience, including government officials, youth groups, union representatives, and community leaders, ensuring critical issues were discussed from multiple perspectives. The initiative will extend to the remaining 15 regions over the next few weeks, culminating in a national forum where feedback and recommendations will be consolidated and presented to the government for implementation, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to participatory governance.
