A devastating hotel collapse late Tuesday night has claimed the lives of two people and left others trapped in the rubble.
Emergency services are working tirelessly to rescue those still buried beneath the wreckage of the historic building.
Located on the banks of the Moselle River, the hotel suffered a catastrophic collapse around 11pm local time.
The top floor caved in onto the lower level, shattering windows and trapping several guests inside. Fourteen people were in the building at the time of the incident.
While five individuals managed to escape unharmed, nine others were trapped in the debris.
Rescue teams, including firefighters, police, and specialized search and rescue dogs, have been working around the clock to reach the survivors.
Tragically, two people were confirmed dead at the scene. A Dutch family visiting the area was among those rescued, with a mother and child taken to hospital for treatment.
The father was later rescued but his condition remains unknown.
