Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, has vowed to provide 100% internet coverage across Ghana if he wins the 2024 presidential election.
At a recent campaign rally, Dr. Bawumia outlined the advancements his administration has made in expanding internet access, noting that coverage was just 32% when the NPP first took office.
“When we began our term, internet coverage stood at only 32%. Now, it has risen to 73%, and we are dedicated to reaching full coverage,” he declared.
He underscored the critical role of internet access in driving economic progress and modernization, suggesting that universal coverage would greatly improve digital inclusion and connectivity for all Ghanaians.
“I want Ghana to achieve 100% internet coverage. We started at 32%, and today it’s 72%. As President, I will ensure it reaches 100%,” he affirmed.
Dr. Bawumia’s pledge is a central element of his campaign, reflecting his vision of leveraging digital technology to foster national development.
His ambitious target aims to position Ghana as a leader in digital infrastructure within Africa, aligning with the NPP’s broader objectives of digital transformation, including advancements in e-governance, digital financial services, and technology-driven education.
