A deadly clash erupted in Awutu Bawjiase on Monday night, leaving one person dead.
The violence unfolded as preparations were underway for the installation of a new chief, Nai Nana Kwaku Osardu (III), scheduled for Tuesday.
A group of armed men, suspected to be land guards, stormed the chief’s palace around 10:45 PM. Amidst the chaos, a man in his 30s was fatally shot.
The community has been deeply divided by a 25-year-old chieftaincy dispute that was recently settled by the National House of Chiefs.
