CAF Launches Investigation Into Internal Governance Breach

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has initiated an investigation into allegations of misconduct within its secretariat.

The governing body has tasked its Audit and Governance Committee with probing potential breaches of internal governance and auditing regulations.

To ensure impartiality and credibility, the committee will appoint a reputable international law firm or audit firm to conduct a thorough investigation. Upon completion, a detailed report will be submitted to the CAF Executive Committee.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for corruption and any violation of the organization’s ethical standards.

He highlighted the establishment of an Internal Governance and Compliance Department in 2021 as a testament to CAF’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The CAF Audit and Governance Committee, chaired by Justice Petrus Damaseb, will oversee the investigation and make recommendations to the Executive Committee.

CAF aims to maintain its reputation as a responsible and transparent organization, both domestically and internationally.

The outcome of this investigation will be crucial in shaping the future of African football governance.
