Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a six-month prison sentence for the misuse of naira notes. Bobrisky, who was convicted on April 12, 2024, by Justice Abimbola Awogboro, was sentenced to serve six months without the option of a fine for spraying naira notes at parties.
On Monday, Bobrisky shared a video on X celebrating his release alongside actress Eniola Ajao. The video captures Bobrisky’s excitement as he reconnects with his supporters.
In a subsequent interview with GoldMyneTV, Bobrisky offered a stern warning to Nigerians about respecting currency regulations and adhering to the law. “Don’t spray money, unless you want to become a landlord in Kirikiri. It’s not just about serious crimes; even a minor offense like this can land you in prison,” he cautioned.
Bobrisky also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to friends who stood by him during his imprisonment. He urged the public to follow legal guidelines and respect the naira.
The incident has highlighted the importance of adhering to financial regulations and the potential legal consequences of seemingly minor infractions.
