- Osei-Asare urged stakeholders to support entrepreneurs
- She emphasized the need to nurture entrepreneurs
- Amoah urged the youth to join the revolution
Abena Osei-Asare, Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, has urged stakeholders to support entrepreneurs in driving Ghana’s quest for self-reliance.
Speaking at the 3rd Financial Economics Seminar 2024 in Accra, she emphasized the need to nurture entrepreneurs with the right policies, particularly in accessing financial resources.
“Ghanaians have a long history of entrepreneurship, but they need support to grow their businesses,” she said. “With the right policies and support, entrepreneurs will drive economic growth and stability in our developing economy.”
Osei-Asare highlighted the government’s efforts since 2017 to empower youth entrepreneurship through policies and interventions aimed at reducing business costs, improving skills training and education, and addressing structural challenges facing SMEs.
Deputy Finance Minister Stephen Amoah emphasized the need for a new wave of entrepreneurial advocacy to shift the focus from seeking employment to creating opportunities.
He urged the youth to join the entrepreneurship revolution, calling on stakeholders to create support systems for new businesses.
Amoah advised banks to extend credit to entrepreneurs, enabling them to grow from small to large businesses.
He also cautioned youth against unprofitable ventures, encouraging them to secure their future through entrepreneurship, which reduces imports, enhances purchasing power, generates taxes, and reduces national deficits.
