The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Twifo Ati-Morkwa Constituency, Ebenezer Dwamena, has been remanded along with two others. The accused persons face charges of conspiracy to defraud by false pretense and false pretenses, contrary to section 131 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
The Assin Kyekyerwere Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Sophia Priscila Yeboah, made the decision to remand the accused persons. The remand is intended to allow time for the Police to forward the case docket to the Attorney-General’s Office for advice.
The accused persons’ lawyers had raised concerns about the Circuit Court’s jurisdiction, citing the amount involved, which exceeds Gh¢300,000.00. According to available information, the case involves allegations that Mr. Ebenezer Dwamena, the PC, and his accomplices failed to produce a vehicle after receiving payment from a businessman in Twifo Praso.
The businessman had allegedly paid for the vehicle, but the accused persons failed to deliver, leading to the charges of conspiracy to defraud by false pretense and false pretenses. The case has sparked interest in the constituency, with many calling for justice to be served.
