Steve McClaren has been appointed as the new head coach of the Jamaica national team. The former England manager will leave his role at Manchester United to take up the two-year position.

McClaren’s primary goal is to guide the Reggae Boyz to the 2026 World Cup. Jamaica have only qualified for one World Cup previously, in 1998.

The 63-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the role, having managed several high-profile clubs and the England national team.

He also served as assistant manager at Manchester United under both Sir Alex Ferguson and Erik ten Hag.

McClaren expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead Jamaica, highlighting the country’s football potential.

His departure from Manchester United will come after the club’s pre-season tour.
