The legal representative for Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lil Win, has firmly asserted her client’s innocence regarding a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy.
Margaret Mary Adjei Twum, Lil Win’s lawyer, expressed confidence that her client would not face prosecution as the court awaits further advice from the Attorney General’s office. Adjei Twum maintained that Lil Win was not responsible for the incident.
Kwadwo Nkansah was arrested on Monday, June 3, 2024, following a vehicular accident involving his car that led to the young boy’s death. He was later granted bail of 50,000 Ghana Cedis with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong district court.
During the previous court session, the prosecution informed the court that the case docket had been forwarded to the Attorney General’s office for review. In the latest court hearing on Monday, July 29, 2024, the court reiterated that the docket remains under examination.
After the court session, Adjei Twum highlighted the negative impact the incident and its media coverage have had on Lil Win. “In fact, those incidents have really affected him,” she said. “The way we were praying that the movie, ‘A Country Called Ghana’, how it was supposed to go because of the accidents and the media and also the negative comments around it has somehow affected the movie itself. But what can you say? Somebody is dead. So we are not thinking in terms of comics.”
Adjei Twum emphasized the importance of empathy, stating, “We want to think as reasonable human beings. And then we pray that as time flies, the family of the deceased will have some sort of comfort and closure. We are not so much conscious about the money. Now we pray that the family members will be healed and then things will be fine.”
She concluded by reaffirming their stance, saying, “We will defend because we are so standing on his innocence. We still believe in his innocence until proven otherwise. We will still pursue our posture and the theory of our case will change when we have the reports from the Attorney General.”
