Jennifer Aniston has criticized Donald Trump’s vice-presidential candidate, JD Vance, for his resurfaced comments labeling Democrats as “a bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives.”
The actress shared a 2021 interview with Vance on Instagram, expressing her disbelief that such statements came from a potential VP candidate. “I truly can’t believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States,” she wrote.
Aniston, who has spoken publicly about her struggles with IVF, took aim at Vance’s stance on reproductive rights. “I hope [his daughter] will not need to turn to IVF as a second option,” she wrote. “Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Vance’s comments, made during a 2021 interview with Tucker Carlson, criticized Vice-President Kamala Harris for not having biological children. He also claimed that the US was run by “childless cat ladies” who are “miserable at their own lives.”
The comments have sparked backlash from several public figures, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Kamala Harris. Fans of Taylor Swift, who has no children and three cats, have also responded to Vance’s comments.
Aniston has previously spoken about her own experiences with IVF, telling Allure in 2022 that she wished someone had advised her to freeze her eggs. Despite her challenges, she stated that she has “zero regrets.”
