Nsawam-Accra-Tema Railway Line Now Operational – Finance Minister

The Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has emphasized the government’s commitment to building an efficient railway network, stating that it goes beyond transportation.

According to Dr. Adam, the railway project is aimed at fostering economic growth, creating jobs, and enhancing connectivity across the nation.

Presenting the mid-year budget review in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, Dr. Adam highlighted the progress made in the railway sector.

He announced that the Nsawam-Accra-Tema railway line is now complete and operational.

Additionally, Dr. Adam revealed that the iconic Tema to Mpakadan railway line is 99% complete and expected to be fully completed by the end of the year.

The construction of the Kojokrom-Manso section is also nearing completion, with an expected finish date before the end of 2024.

Furthermore, Dr. Adam stated that the Manso-Huni Valley section, which includes the extension of the line into the Takoradi Port, is expected to be completed by May 2026.

Beyond the railway project, Dr. Adam emphasized the government’s determination to improve road infrastructure nationwide.

This includes the construction of new roads, as well as the upgrade and maintenance of existing ones.

The rehabilitation and maintenance of road infrastructure are ongoing, with various projects at different stages of completion, Dr. Adam concluded.
