The Chiefs and people of Wechiau in the Wa West constituency of the Upper West Region have pledged their support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections. This decision comes as a result of the party’s consistent commitment to the development of the area over the years.
According to the Chiefs, the NPP’s dedication to their community has earned their trust and loyalty. They cited various projects and initiatives implemented by the NPP government since 2004, which have positively impacted their lives.
Naa Imoru Nandon Gomah II, the Paramount Chief of Wechiau, welcomed NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to his palace on Monday, July 22, 2024. Dr. Bawumia’s visit was part of his nationwide campaign tour, focusing on engaging with traditional authorities, religious leaders, youth, and various segments of society.
The Paramount Chief expressed gratitude to the NPP government for its numerous developmental projects in the area. He highlighted the creation of the Wa West District in 2004, the Agenda 111 hospital project, dams and dugouts under the One Village One Dam initiative, road construction, and benefits from the Free Senior High School and School Feeding programs.
Naa Gomah II praised Dr. Bawumia for his respect for traditional institutions, evident in his decision to formally announce his presidential bid to the Chiefs. This gesture, the Chief said, would be rewarded with their support in the elections.
The Paramount Chief assured Dr. Bawumia of the Chiefs’ support, enabling him to continue the good works of the NPP government after the December 7, 2024, elections. He pronounced his blessings on Dr. Bawumia, wishing him God’s protection and guidance.
Dr. Bawumia thanked the Chiefs for their support and encouragement. He urged the people of the Wa West Constituency to give him and the NPP the opportunity to build upon the gains made so far. The NPP flagbearer outlined his vision for Ghana’s future, focusing on training children for the future, equipping youth with skills to create jobs, and competing favorably with their global contemporaries.
