Renowned American rapper Snoop Dogg has been chosen as one of the last torchbearers for the Olympic flame, ahead of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. The 52-year-old music legend will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris and home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium, on Friday.
This stage of the relay marks the penultimate leg of the flame’s journey before it reaches its final destination at the iconic Eiffel Tower. Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., hails from Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Summer Games.
He will be joined in Saint-Denis by fellow distinguished torchbearers, including French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar. The Olympic torch has been carried by a diverse group of notable figures since its journey began in May, including former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, and actress Halle Berry.
The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
