Eminem has secured his 11th number one album with the release of The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), joining an elite group of artists including Taylor Swift, David Bowie, and U2.
The US rapper’s 12th album, which marks the demise of his alter ego Slim Shady, received a mixed critical reception. However, this did not hinder its performance on the charts, as it debuted at number one.
Houdini, a track from the album, has reached number four on the singles chart, after previously topping the chart last month. Eminem had described The Death of Slim Shady as a “conceptual album,” emphasizing the importance of listening to the songs in sequence.
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department remains at number two on the albums chart, while popstar Griff has entered the chart at number three with her debut album Vertigo.
In the singles chart, Sabrina Carpenter’s summer hit Espresso has reached number one for the seventh time. Additionally, her song Please Please Please is at number two, making her the third female artist to hold the top two spots simultaneously, after Madonna in 1985 and Ariana Grande in 2019.
A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey is at number three, followed by Eminem’s Houdini at number four.
The England football team may not have won the Euros, but the tournament has seen a resurgence in the popularity of Three Lions by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner, and The Lightning Seeds, which has reached number eight.
