German DJ and Producer Tomcraft Passes Away at 49

The dance music community is mourning the loss of Thomas Brückner, aka Tomcraft, who passed away on July 15, 2024, at the age of 49. Tomcraft was best known for his 2003 club hit “Loneliness,” which reached number one in the UK and became a massive success worldwide.

Tributes have poured in from the dance music world, with Judge Jules, who championed “Loneliness” on its release, writing, “Lovely guy, who made one of the greatest records ever.” Brückner’s family announced his passing on social media, saying, “With a heavy heart, we need to inform you that yesterday, our beloved father and husband has passed away. We will forever carry you in our hearts and love you until we’re reunited again.”

Throughout his career, Brückner released several club hits, including “The Circle,” “Prosac,” and “Silence.” However, it was “Loneliness” that brought him commercial success, reaching number eight in the UK in 2002 and number one the following year. Brückner wrote the track with studio partner Eniac and added lyrics and a melody borrowed from Andrea Martin’s 1999 R&B single “Share the Love.”

Brückner’s music continued to inspire new generations, with his track “Loneliness” being remixed by Dutch EDM star Hardwell and DJs From Mars in 2023. The song also soundtracked a party scene in the film Saltburn and was used in Will Young’s 2015 single “Love Revolution.”

Tomcraft’s legacy will live on through his music, and he will be deeply missed by the dance music community.
