Emmys 2024: Baby Reindeer and The Crown scoop nominations
The nominations for the 2024 Emmy Awards have been announced, and several British stars have been recognized for their outstanding work in television. Richard Gadd, creator and star of the Netflix series Baby Reindeer, has received three nominations for acting, writing, and producing. Additionally, Jessica Gunning, Nava Mau, and Tom Goodman-Hill have been nominated for their roles in the series, which has a total of 11 nominations.
Imelda Staunton has been nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in the final series of The Crown. Other cast members, including Jonathan Pryce, Dominic West, Elizabeth Debicki, and Lesley Manville, have also received nominations. Claire Foy, who played Elizabeth II in the first two series, has been nominated for Best Guest Actress for her return in the final scene.
The Bear has set a record for a comedy program with 23 nominations, including acting nods for Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Will Poulter. Other nominated British actors include Idris Elba, Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden, Tom Hollander, Jonathan Bailey, Michaela Coel, Matt Berry, and Juno Temple.
The central cast members of Only Murders in the Building, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, have been nominated, alongside Meryl Streep, who joined the show for season three. Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will compete for their roles in The Morning Show, while Jodie Foster and Robert Downey Jr are among the other big names on the shortlists.
The Emmy Awards are the most prestigious honors in the US TV industry, and the winners will be announced on September 15.
