Acclaimed actress Shannen Doherty, known for her iconic roles in Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed, has passed away at the age of 53 after a courageous battle with cancer.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty,” said her publicist, Leslie Sloane, in a statement. “The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie.”
Doherty’s illustrious career spanned over four decades, with her most notable role being Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills 90210. She was nominated for several awards for her performance and later reprised her role in the 2008 reboot.
In addition to her work on 90210, Doherty appeared in various TV shows and films, including Little House on the Prairie, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Heathers, Charmed, and Mallrats.
Throughout her life, Doherty was open about her struggles with fame and cancer, documenting her journey on social media. In a recent Instagram video, she shared that the cancer had spread to her brain.
Despite her health challenges, Doherty remained committed to living life to the fullest, stating, “I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating.”
