Akufo-Addo: Mahama’s Leadership Was a Failure; He Doesn’t Deserve Another Term
- Mahama is the only president in Ghana's history not to be honored with a second term
- Akufo-Addo urged the youth to actively participate in the ongoing campaign
- The President stressed the importance of choosing a competent leader
President Nana Akufo-Addo has encouraged youth employed by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to engage actively in New Patriotic Party (NPP) activities in preparation for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Speaking at a forum in Kumasi, President Akufo-Addo criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, labeling him an “unsuccessful” and “rejected” leader after only one term in office.
“Mahama is the only president not honored by Ghanaians. Unlike other leaders, including Rawlings and Kufuor, who were re-elected, Mahama was voted out after one term. Now he seeks a return to power. Do we want to move backward as a nation? I believe not. So, I urge you to actively participate in the campaign and support Dr. Bawumia, our flagbearer.
“Would you prefer an unsuccessful president or a successful vice president? Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has shown he can advance our nation when elected president. Don’t be misled; the most competent candidate deserves the role. Mahama failed as president, and he should not be allowed back in power.”
The President expressed strong confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to lead Ghana with effective policies and drive the country forward.
