Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh Urges Youth to Seize Government’s Skills Training

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), encouraged young people to capitalize on government-sponsored skills training programs for a secure and lasting future.
Speaking at the annual church conference and unveiling of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana’s new constitution on July 14, 2024, in Gomoa Mpota, Central Region, Dr. Prempeh stressed the practical importance of acquiring skills relevant to today’s rapidly evolving world.
He urged youth to enroll in the Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives, which aim to equip them with skills that meet industry standards.
Dr. Prempeh highlighted the NPP government’s substantial investment in TVET infrastructure from 2017 to 2020, exceeding US$700 million to upgrade facilities at both pre-tertiary and tertiary levels.
“Ghana boasts a youthful and dynamic population eager for training and employment,” he noted, emphasizing that these initiatives could address youth unemployment challenges and foster sustainable livelihoods. He encouraged young people to leverage these opportunities to start businesses, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Dr. Prempeh assured the youth of the NPP’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for their success. He reiterated that youth training and skills development are central to the vision of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, underscoring a dedication to bold solutions for the nation’s future.
