- Residents in Amasaman municipality struggle with poor road conditions.
- Travel time has increased significantly, from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
- Bad roads have led to job losses for some residents.
- Residents urge the government to fix the roads urgently.
Residents of Medie, Adjen Kotoku, and Papase in the Amasaman municipality of the Greater Accra Region are expressing their frustration and disappointment over the deplorable state of the road network in the area.
The poor road conditions have made living in the area difficult, with commuters facing long hours of travel time due to the bad roads. Enoch Boateng, a resident, explained that what used to be a 30-minute drive from Adjen Kotoku to Medie now takes three hours, making it challenging for people to go about their daily activities.
Marry Asantewaa, another resident, shared how the bad roads have affected her husband’s job, leaving him unemployed for over a year. She explained that the frequent breakdown of their car due to the poor road conditions led to her husband’s employer taking away the vehicle, leaving him without a means of transportation to work.
Yaw Peter, a concerned resident, emphasized the urgent need for the government to fix the roads, suggesting that grading the asphalt roads would be a better solution than allowing them to remain in their current state with numerous potholes. The residents are appealing to the government to treat the issue as a matter of urgency and provide a lasting solution to the poor road network in the area.
The bad roads have not only affected commuters but also businesses in the area, with many struggling to transport goods and services due to the deplorable road conditions. The residents are calling on the government to take immediate action to address the situation and restore the roads to a good condition to improve their quality of life.
The situation highlights the need for improved infrastructure development in the country, particularly in rural areas like Amasaman municipality, to enhance the livelihoods of residents and promote economic growth.
