The Volta River Authority (VRA) is initiating discussions with key stakeholders regarding the potential controlled release of water from the Akosombo Dam.
This proactive measure aims to safeguard the dam’s structural integrity and ensure community safety, according to a notice issued by Ing. Ken Arthur, VRA’s Deputy Chief Executive in Charge of Services.
The notice, addressed to over 40 stakeholders including the Minister for the Interior and local assemblies within the dam’s catchment areas, emphasizes the importance of preparedness in the event of necessary spillage.
“We are proposing engagements with you and relevant teams to address potential implications, mitigation strategies, and information dissemination,” the notice stated.
