Tragedy Strikes Nigeria Police Force as Three Top Officers Die

The Jigawa State command of the Nigeria Police Force has been hit by a series of tragic losses, with three high-ranking officers succumbing to various health issues in recent days. According to DSP Lawan Shiisu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the officers passed away between June 22 and July 5.

SP Salisu Salisu-Mudi, a member of the Patrol and Guard team from Babura Division, died at the Federal Medical Centre in Katsina on June 22. ASP Asabe Muhammad, second-in-command for the Gender Desk Office of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), passed away on Wednesday. CSP Muhammad Salihu-Koko, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Yankwaahi Division, died on Friday.

Shiisu expressed condolences to the families and friends of the fallen officers and prayed for their souls’ peace.

In a separate incident, a graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and a gambling agent was allegedly shot dead by a police officer in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that all parties involved are being questioned.

Witnesses reported that the deceased, Anuoluwapo (aka Pepe), was closing his Bet9ja outlet when he was fatally shot. Claims suggest the police officers involved were under the influence of alcohol and fled the scene after the incident. The officers allegedly fired their weapons intermittently to facilitate their escape.

The incidents have sent shockwaves through the police force and the communities affected. Investigations are ongoing.
