Nana Akomea, the Deputy Campaign Chair of the Bawumia campaign team, has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win the general elections in the first round if they secure 75% of the votes in the Ashanti Region.
Akomea was discussing the selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate and emphasized that the party’s focus was on finding a candidate with the right qualities, not just a regional representative.
He praised Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s work as Minister of Education and Energy, highlighting his hard work and personal qualities as the reasons for his selection. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also expressed his approval of the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket, stating that it is an excellent partnership that will lead the NPP to victory in the 2024 general elections.
The President confirmed that the National Council of the NPP had endorsed Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate, saying, “The NPP has an excellent ticket, and we’re going to win with this ticket on 7th December 2024.” Dr. Bawumia thanked the National Council for their unanimous endorsement of his selection, saying it was an honor and privilege to present Dr. Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh also expressed his gratitude to the National Council, the party’s rank-and-file, and President Akufo-Addo for their support and faith in him. He acknowledged the task ahead, emphasizing the need for collective effort to achieve their goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s selection as running mate has been widely praised, with many seeing him as a strong addition to the Bawumia ticket. The NPP appears confident in their chances for the 2024 general elections, with Akomea’s statement highlighting the importance of the Ashanti Region in their electoral strategy.
