Black Stars Coach Targets Group Domination In AFCON Qualifiers
- Coach Otto Addo is demanding top performances

- The opening match brings an interesting twist
Coach Otto Addo is demanding top performances from his players, emphasizing the need to “beat everyone” in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars face Sudan, Angola, and Niger in their quest to qualify for the tournament hosted by Morocco next year.
The opening match brings an interesting twist, as Ghana reunites with former coach Kwesi Appiah, who now leads Sudan. For Angola, it’s a rematch of the 2023 qualifiers, while Niger presents a fresh challenge, with their last encounter dating back to the 2013 AFCON.
“We can’t afford any complacency,” Addo said in a Ghanafa.org interview. “There are no easy teams in Africa anymore. We saw strong teams struggle at the last AFCON, so we expect tough battles. But I believe we have the quality to overcome them all.”
The top two teams from the group will progress to the continental showpiece in Morocco. The qualifiers kick off in September, with the aim of identifying the first 24 nations out of 48 that will compete in Africa’s biggest football event. The tournament itself runs from December 21st, 2025 to January 18th, 2026.
