Entertainment pundit Ola Michael has commended Ghanaian socialite and actress Hajia4Reall, real name Mona Faiz Montrage, for her strategic legal maneuvers in her recent U.S. court case.
Hajia4Reall, who was extradited from the UK and sentenced to one year and one day in a U.S. prison for her involvement in a $2 million romance scam, initially faced a potential five-year sentence. However, the judge granted her leniency, citing her cooperation, admission of guilt, and commitment to repaying the victims as pivotal factors.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz, Ola Michael highlighted Hajia4Reall’s decision to cooperate with the court and her strategic hiring of competent lawyers as key factors in her receiving a relatively lenient sentence. “Don’t underrate the lady; she’s smart. She picked an intelligent lawyer and has gotten the best deal out of the whole affair,” Michael stated.
According to Michael, Hajia4Reall’s show of remorse, including shedding tears over the potential impact of a heavy sentence on her child, likely influenced the court’s decision. Her legal team’s advice and her behavior throughout the trial also contributed significantly to the lenient sentencing.
Hajia4Reall’s lawyers expressed excitement over the sentencing, having successfully argued for a significantly reduced sentence compared to the government’s request for 37 to 46 months of incarceration.
